don’t worry, I didn’t electrocute myself

Why are my electrical outlet covers – the ones we put in so that the Magpie can’t accidentally electrocute herself by sticking metal objects into the socket – only removable by forcefully jamming a metal knife or screwdriver bit in between the cover and the socket??

And why did I need this socket? Why, to plug in my iron of course. Yes, my iron. It came out of retirement for a quick use. After draining the stagnant water and figuring out what type of fabric i was dealing with so that I could set the correct temperature. Don’t worry. I don’t appear to have burned myself, either.

  1. I always wonder about frying myself when pulling plugs out – which I will sometimes hook a finger under to get better grip if they won’t budge.
